The VMO Premium Rig range are made from premium components and hand tied by local rig tying supremo, Graham Hobden. Each rig is designed to meet the needs of the modern sea angler and if you are unsure on tying rigs or do not have the time to make your own these rigs match the best you can tie and will not let you down.

The Smoothhound Uptide Rig is an effective rig for casting away from the boat with crab baits for smoothhounds. The fixed ‘bolt rig’ design ensures that the bait is kept on the sea bed where rays like to feed. It is an effective self-hooking rig which gives good bite indication. The Varivas 3 Way swivel and use of knot sleeves and link swivel on the lead link helps to virtually eliminate tangles. The hook length is attached with a X-Strong Speed Clip allowing the trace to be changed without having to completely re-tackle. The 3/0 Varivas BMX hook is perfect for mounting the crab bait and the 3/0 Varivas Chinu sits above the bait and this is the hook which normally snares the fish neatly in the scissors.

This rig is perfect for Smoothhounds but will also pick up the bass and rays which are often found on the same ground.
